Washington Huskies Reintroduce Gold With New Football Uniforms

The Washington Huskies unveiled new football uniforms on Friday, confirming a recent eBay leak that showed the reintroduction of gold on their purple home and white road jerseys.

This marks the first update to Washington’s core uniforms since 2023, though those changes were subtle compared to the complete overhaul the Huskies underwent as part of their move from Nike to adidas ahead of the 2019 season.

Both of those uniforms featured sleeve stripes that were two different shades of purple, which were inspired by the 1991 national championship team and, according to adidas, were meant to convey the look of a king’s velvet robe.

They also initially included a gold stroke around the white numbers on the purple home jerseys, while gold was completely absent on the white road jersey. The gold stroke was then dropped from the purple home jerseys in 2023.

The Huskies also added stripes to their gold, purple and white pants that season, with gold pants matching the striping pattern on their gold helmets while the purple and white pants matched their corresponding jerseys.

The new uniforms, meanwhile, add gold-white-gold stripes to Washington’s purple home jerseys and a purple-gold-purple striping pattern to the white road jerseys, as well as a reflective gold stroke around the numbers on both jerseys.

The Huskies also updated the stripes on their purple pants, though they – along with the stripes on their gold pants – are now truncated and do not extend all the way down the leg after they were previously tapered around the knee.

Washington will debut its new uniform design against Colorado State on Aug. 30. It’s unclear if the Huskies will also have updated white pants or if they wear any alternate designs, though they have in each of the last five seasons.
