The New Orleans Saints confirmed our report from earlier this month by unveiling new gold alternate jerseys on Tuesday that will be paired with their existing black alternate helmets and black pants.
The gold jerseys feature black numbers outlined in white, a contrasting collar and the Saints’ primary logo on the sleeves, matching the design of their black home and white road jerseys.
It’s an exact replica of the gold jerseys the Saints wore in a 32-31 loss to the Minnesota Vikings in 2002, which remains the only time in franchise history they’ve deviated from black or white jerseys.

The gold jerseys are a dream come true for defensive end Cameron Jordan, who has spent most of his career in New Orleans lobbying for the Saints to bring back the one-off design.
The only difference between what the Saints wore in 2002 and the jerseys they revealed on Tuesday is the fabric and the manufacturer, as Reebok used shimmer fabric whereas Nike uses matte fabric.
That said, the new gold jerseys replace the 1967-68 throwback uniforms in the Saints’ wardrobe. They’ve worn those uniforms, which feature old gold numbers and pants, at least once every season since 2022.
The Saints could also pair their new gold jerseys with their new white alternate helmets – which were unveiled on July 9 – and Color Rush pants in the future, as the NFL’s relaxed uniform rules now allow helmets to be mixed-and-matched among primary and alternate designs.
However, the team’s social media accounts indicated the new white alternate lids, which include black and gold stripes with a fluer-de-lis pattern and a gold facemask, will only be worn with the Color Rush uniforms this season.
