A Look At The New Alternate, Throwback Uniforms, Helmets In Madden NFL 26

While most people who purchased a copy of EA Sports’ Madden NFL 26 this month immediately dove into one of the many playable modes, we took a different approach here at SportsLogos.net.

Naturally, we were far more interested in the new alternate and throwback uniforms and helmets that will debut across the league this season than the gameplay itself and spent a considerable amount of time in the play now menu.

One observation we had was the inclusion of many historical uniforms that won’t be actually worn by their real-life counterparts but are playable options, headlined by the Ravens’ 1996-98 design.

This has been a feature in Madden for years, but this specific uniform is notable given the Ravens stopped using the helmet logo an amateur artist sued for copyright infringement after they used his design without credit.

The designer also filed a motion to have EA Sports included in the lawsuit after they featured said uniform in Madden NFL 11, though nothing appears to have come from that after the video game stopped using the logo in subsequent titles.

With the uniform once again appearing in the game and the Ravens recently using their original sleeve logo in social media graphics, we’re starting to wonder if there’s some sort of compromise happening behind the scenes that would allow them to wear these uniforms again in the future…

Meanwhile, the 1990s classic option (shown below) remains the only way you can use the Buffalo Bills’ red throwback helmets, which will return for their Week 18 game against the New York Jets, marking their final regular season game at Highmark Stadium.

The Bills will actually pair the red helmets with their blue home jerseys, white pants and blue socks that afternoon, but Madden currently only allows you to switch between their standard white helmets and “Standing Buffalo” throwback design with the blue home, white road and red alternate jerseys – something that will presumably be fixed in the next update.

Another interesting detail was that the New Orleans Saints’ new gold alternate jerseys are paired with their new white alternate helmets and black pants in the menu when they’ll actually be worn with their black alternate helmets. The white alternate helmets will be worn with their Color Rush uniforms, however, so you have to manually adjust the options.

The same goes for the Los Angeles Chargers’ new gold alternate jerseys, which will be worn with their gold pants and socks rather than their new powder blue pants that initially pop up when you scroll through the uniform menu. Their all-navy “Super Charger” uniforms are correct, on the other hand.

That said, we took this as an opportunity to show you what all of the new alternate and throwback uniforms will look like on the field rather than in the menu. We even took it one step further by showing the opponent they’ll be worn against when applicable, though the Saints are only team that haven’t revealed the debut dates for their designs.
