ECHL’s Greensboro Gargoyles Reveal Jerseys for Inaugural Season

The ECHL’s newest franchise has given their fans a look at what they’ll be wearing when they take the ice this fall.

The Greensboro Gargoyles unveiled new purple and white primary jerseys, along with a black alternate jersey, during an event at Piedmont Hall in Greensboro, North Carolina, on Thursday, August 21, that was attended by Mayor Nancy Vaughan and head coach Scott Burt. The jersey launch took place about seven months after the team revealed their nickname and logos.

“It’s an exciting day for our fans as they have eagerly awaited the release of these jerseys,” said Andy Kaufmann, CEO of Zawyer Sports & Entertainment, on the team’s website. “The jerseys look amazing, and they give our team a look and identity that Greensboro can be proud of. I cannot wait to see the jerseys in action on the ice and in the stands worn by our fans.”

The purple jersey has the Gargoyles’ primary logo, complete with wordmark, on the chest and secondary G logos on the shoulders. A white stripe runs around each sleeve, with a narrower gold stripe on top. The waist has a broad black stripe, with the same striping pattern as the sleeves inside it.

Meanwhile, the white jersey features a silver shield logo on the chest with the gargoyle inside and the team name arched along the top. The shoulder yokes and top halves of the sleeves are purple, becoming white after a black and gold stripes at the elbows. The waist has a broad purple stripe with black stripe and a narrow gold stripe — again mirroring the sleeve stripes — inside.

The black alternate jersey keeps things pretty simple. A logo with just the gargoyle’s face sits on the chest, and the shoulder yokes, sleeve stripes and waist stripe are all one-colour purple. The shield logo sits on each shoulder.

ECHL teams typically wear white jerseys at home and dark jerseys on the road until the All-Star Game break in January, at which point they switch to dark at home at white on the road. During the playoffs, they switch back to white at home and dark on the road.

Manufacturer mockups on the Gargoyles’ online shop appear to show the logos sublimated onto the jersey, but jerseys shown at the unveiling event and in promotional materials had embroidered logo patches.

The Gargoyles will out of the First Horizon Coliseum in Greensboro. They open their 2025-26 ECHL regular season on October 18 and 19 when they host the Jacksonville Icemen.
