The Carolina Hurricanes unveiled a new road white uniform this morning, an homage to the club’s black 2023 Stadium Series set, now in white, now a full-time sweater, for the upcoming 2025-26 NHL season.
The diagonal “CANES” wordmark uniform, muted warning-flag waist pattern, and two-flag shoulder mark are out. In their place is a two-tone red-and-black version of the primary logo on the chest, the same sleeve and hem striping from the Stadium Series look, and the slanted typeface for names and numbers.

“That game helped display our beautiful blend of NHL hockey with our local, collegiate tailgating environment.” Hurricanes President Doug Warf said in an article on NHL.com. “Many of our fans continue to wear and request that [Stadium Series] jersey because it was artfully designed and it conjures up memories of that fantastic event for our team, fans and region.”

The first thing everyone will notice, of course, is the red-and-black recoloured Hurricanes crest.
“The two-tone red and black logo is a fantastic tweak to our primary logo,” said Warf in that same article. “We all liked this mark on the Stadium Series uniform set, but I think it truly jumps off the white jersey as the pop of contrast is beautifully eye-catching.”

On one shoulder, a patch introduces the club’s “Strutting Stormy” logo to in-game usage. The logo features the Hurricanes’ hog mascot wearing a “CANES” cap and walking with a determined look, fists clenched, and the team’s “C” logo on the front of its sweater. It strongly resembles this UNC Tar Heels mark. The logo had previously only appeared at retail on hats and T-shirts for years and had been a fan favourite, according to Warf. On the opposite shoulder, the Hurricanes have retained the recoloured North Carolina state flag patch that is already being worn on the club’s home black uniforms.
The back of the jersey features slanted, single-colour player names and numbers in red. Sleeve numbers are a similar style, but instead in black, and are placed upon red striping. Inside the back collar is the team’s familiar storm warning pattern, a series of black and red squares which made up the main waist striping on their original set.

The Hurricanes will continue pairing red helmets, pants, and gloves with this new white sweater, just as they had done with the now-replaced diagonal “CANES” uniform. Socks are white with a single thick red stripe above a single thick black stripe.
This will be the fourth redesign of the Hurricanes’ primary white uniform since they replaced their original (and, by far, their best) white uniform upon the NHL’s switch to Reebok in 2007.
