Ottawa Senators Reveal New Red Third Jersey for 2025-26 NHL Season

The Ottawa Senators have finally officially unveiled their new red third jersey, doing so at a media event yesterday afternoon. The unveiling follows several leaks of the full uniform set over the past year.

The jersey has a red base with black shoulders trimmed in metallic gold. On each sleeve is a thick black stripe, again trimmed with metallic gold. A single black stripe is at the waist with a thinner metallic gold band above it.

The chest logo is a slightly modified Ottawa Senators logo, but now decorated with a series of new, raised embroidered details. Additional decoration is in the black sleeve striping, which contains two stripes of laurel leaves. The club’s secondary “S” logo appears as a patch on each shoulder.

On the back of the jersey, we have a new “OTTAWA” wordmark that incorporates the Peace Tower into the “A”. Based on the photos, it appears this logo is positioned at the top, between the shoulders. Player names and numbers are in a new black typeface trimmed in metallic gold. A new red and gold maple leaf design is on the back hem loop.

Here’s a side-by-side of the usual home/away Senators crest with this new red third jersey crest, and you’ll see, not only the addition of the embroidery to the red area there, but also to the centurion’s helmet. The outline of the logo is also single colour black with a much thicker width overall.

The leaks are still the only source of information on what the helmets, pants, and socks will look like with this set (assuming they keep this combo), which features black helmets, black pants, and red socks with similar striping to the sleeves.

The new Senators uniform matches the one which had leaked late last year

The Senators have had five different alternate (or third) uniforms throughout their history, but haven’t worn one since they reverted to their current expansion-inspired uniform set in 2020-21. Of those five prior third jerseys, two have been red.

Ottawa Senators red Reverse Retro jersey from 2021

The Senators last wore a red jersey during the first round of Adidas’ Reverse Retro program in 2021. That jersey featured these same Senators’ “S” shoulder patches and simple black striping.

According to an article on a fairly thin article on NHL.com, the Senators’ new red third uniform will be worn thirteen times during the 2025-26 season. The article states that they’ll debut on October 16th against Seattle, but the video the Senators posted themselves says “Coming October 13th,” which is the same date as their Thanksgiving Day home opener against the Nashville Predators. So, you’re going to get one big ole’ shrug from me on that one.

The confirmed red jersey schedule from the team, so far, includes a series of “Ignite the Red” promotional nights:

  • October 16 vs Seattle
  • October 27 vs Boston
  • November 11 vs Dallas
  • November 15 vs Los Angeles

The second half promotional schedule has yet to be released.
