Seattle Kraken Glow into the Abyss with New All-Black Third Uniform

The Seattle Kraken unveiled a new all-black third uniform this afternoon for the 2025-26 season, a head-to-toe look the club is calling a jersey “from the abyss.” It’s the first alternate uniform from the young franchise.

Featuring black from “helmet to blade,” the new set includes a matte-black helmet, predominantly black sweater, pants, gloves, and socks. The crest is a tonal, black-on-black version of the primary Kraken logo, the only colour coming from “Ice Blue” trim and the red eye. What’s unique about this is that the ice blue embroidery is “illuminated by bioluminescence” using glow-in-the-dark threading.

Each sleeve features a series of wavy “sonar pings” in varying shades of light blue (teal), which get thicker the closer they get to the end of the arm. Finally, a single, thick red stripe completes the pattern. A similar striping pattern is used on the black socks. make up both the sleeve and sock striping, subtle circular echoes that run along the length of the arms and into the leg striping. Around the waist is a single red stripe. The shoulders feature the Kraken anchor/Space Needle logo.

Player numbers are black because “why should we be able to see those?” The numbers are outlined in the same ice blue as the primary crest.

On the back, a red hem loop features a new design centred around an “SEA” wordmark with the eye of the kraken within the “A”. The coordinates of the team’s home arena are featured on the red inside back collar.

The Kraken list 11 home dates for the third uniform’s use this season, with in-arena presentation elements planned around each game, including glow-in-the-dark details and a dedicated show. The full Seattle Kraken third uniform schedule for 2025-26 is below:

  • November 1 vs New York Rangers
  • November 5 vs San Jose Sharks
  • November 26 vs Dallas Stars
  • December 8 vs Minnesota Wild
  • December 29 vs Vancouver Canucks
  • January 6 vs Boston Bruins
  • January 23 vs Anaheim Ducks
  • January 25 vs New Jersey Devils
  • March 4 vs St Louis Blues
  • March 12 vs Colorado Avalanche
  • April 9 vs Vegas Golden Knights

For me, it’s a fairly disappointing look for the Kraken, a team I really hoped to see wearing the lighter blue or teal colour as a main sweater colour. For a club that made a big deal about using multiple shades of blue, why they decided to go completely off the board with black is beyond me. I mean, you have four different blues; surely you could have picked one of those.

But hey, at least the advertisement patch glows in the dark, too.
