Washington Wizards Unveil New Gold And Black City Edition Uniforms For 2025-26

The Washington Wizards unveiled their 2025-26 City Edition uniforms on Monday morning, confirming earlier leaks that they would recolor their 2021-22 design.

Those uniforms were heavily inspired by the franchise’s history as the Baltimore, Capital and Washington Bullets from 1963-97, with red and blue horizontal stripes across the front of the jersey

They also displayed Washington’s current wordmark and 1997-2011 number font, which were white and outlined in gold as a nod to the slate blue uniforms worn during the Michael Jordan and Gilbert Arenas era.

The shorts, meanwhile, had thick red stripes outlined in white down the sides, with the Wizards’ current “DC” hands logo on one side and a 1997-2011-inspired “DMV” logo on the other.

There was also the current monument ball logo on the red waistband and a tribute to Hall of Famer Wes Unseld, with his No. 41 and signature above the jock tag and five stars below it for his five All-Star selections.

Those details remain the same on the new uniforms, though they’re rendered in a gold, black and white scheme, reminiscent of Washington’s 2006-09 alternates, which featured gold jerseys with black and white stripes on the shoulders and black shorts.

The Wizards will debut the “Encore” uniforms and a complementary City Edition court on Nov. 16 against the Brooklyn Nets. They’ll be worn a total of 29 times this season, including 19 times at home and 10 times on the road.

The court prominently displays the “DMV” logo at midcourt and wood-colored lanes with black inside the three-point line and gold inside the free-throw circle. There are also gold blocks with stars on the baselines, mimicking the stripes on the jerseys.

“Uniforms using the gold and black colorway has been a request from the fans. as well as players, since the City Edition concept debuted years ago, with the black city edition uniform worn in 2018 starting the conversation,” senior vice president of market Rebecca Winn said

“When Nike directed us to ‘remix’ a former City Edition, we immediately thought of the classic Wizards uniform first worn in 2006.  We think this version will look great on the team and on the court and the fans will be excited about the uniform and accompanying merchandise offerings, as well.”
