It may have been a few weeks into the Western Hockey League regular season, but the Brandon Wheat Kings finally got to new debut their new retro-inspired home jerseys over the weekend.
The Wheat Kings took the ice in the new black jerseys for the first time when they hosted the Edmonton Oil Kings on Saturday, October 4. They also wore them for a home game against the Saskatoon Blades the following night.
The jersey features the Wheat Kings’ new, old primary logo on the front. The team re-introduced their logo from the 1990s as their primary mark in August, hoping to evoke the success of the 1996 squad, which captured the WHL championship in 1996.

“This logo represents so much tradition, pride, and winning. To see it come back as part of our identity is exciting not only for me, but for our players, our alumni, and our fans.”
— Marty Murray, head coach and general manager, Brandon Wheat Kings
The black home jerseys have three gold and two white stripes around each forearm. They also have a wide white stripe around the waist, flanked by two narrower gold stripes. The collar is black, but the Under Armour logo panel on the back collar is gold. Numbers and names on the sleeves and back are one-colour gold.

The white away jerseys weren’t shown in any of the promotional materials leading up to Saturday’s game, and the team hasn’t worn them on the ice yet this season.
Up until this past weekend, the Wheat Kings had been wearing sublimated, unbranded jerseys with a similar design to their home set for their regular season games, with the biggest difference being the white numbers outlined in gold. It’s not clear if these were made especially for the 2025-26 season or have been worn as alternates in previous seasons.

It’s likely the Wheat Kings were one of the teams across the Canadian Hockey League affected by a quality issue with metallic fabrics being used by new uniform supplier Under Armour, which caused delays in delivering new sweaters.
Last season, the Wheat Kings wore jerseys with black and gold striping on the sleeves and waist, along with their previous primary logo on the front. They also wore a grey alternate jersey with a “BWK” logo on the front; it’s unclear if this alternate will be carried forward to 2025-26.

The Wheat Kings’ 2025-26 WHL regular season opens with seven home games out of eight total contests. Their next games are Friday, October 10, when they host the Vancouver Giants, and Sunday, October 12, when they host the Swift Current Broncos at Assiniboine Credit Union Place.
