The Texas Tech athletic department introduced several new logos on Tuesday afternoon, including a modernized Double “T” that will be featured on all of the Red Raiders’ uniforms by the 2026-27 season.
The update removes the beveling from the Double “T” – which dates back to the 1930s but has only been beveled since 1999 – to give it a flatter, cleaner design and adjusts the proportions of the letters to better fill the space.
The new Double “T” logo already appears on the outdoor turf practice field at the Dustin R. Womble Football Center, as well as the center of the new court design at United Supermarkets Arena.
The mark will be gradually installed at Texas Tech’s other athletic facilities, added to the Red Raiders’ uniforms and implemented in digital applications over the next few months before it is fully launched next spring.
“The Double ‘T’ represents one of the most recognizable logos in all of collegiate athletics and a point of pride for all Red Raiders,” athletic director Kirby Hocutt said. “As we celebrate Homecoming this weekend and welcome back thousands of alumni to campus, this is the perfect opportunity to unveil our new branding that will resonate with our history and define Texas Tech athletics for future generations of Red Raiders.
“This multi-year project will propel our athletics brand further into this new era of college athletics where Texas Tech will continue to lead at a national level.“
In addition to the Double “T,” Texas Tech – in conjunction with adidas and Torch Creative – revealed accompanying wordmarks, secondary logos and sport-specific caricatures, which will be fully revealed at a later date.
That includes a new Masked Rider logo that can be combined with the Double “T” to form a new tertiary mark, as well as revised Texas state outline that can be paired with the Double “T” and rendered in various color options.
While the full rollout won’t happen until the spring, it appears the Red Raiders football program will have the modernized Double “T” on their helmets the near future, though it won’t happen this weekend as they’re set to celebrate their 100th anniversary by wearing throwback-inspired uniforms during Homecoming this Saturday against Kansas.
