Dallas Mavericks Celebrating 45th Anniversary With Commemorative Logo, Hardwood Classic Uniforms

Confirming an earlier leak, the Dallas Mavericks officially unveiled their Hardwood Classic Edition uniforms for the upcoming season, which replicate their 1981-91 road design.

The Kelly green uniforms includes a stylized “Dallas” wordmark across the chest and a matching number font, as well as traditional royal blue and white trim and the Mavericks’ 1980-2001 logo on the left leg of the shorts.

The Mavericks previously wore these uniforms when they celebrated their 40th anniversary during the 2020-21 season, as the league currently permits teams to wear Hardwood Classic designs in an anniversary year.

Dallas also wore similar Hardwood Classic uniforms in 2005-06 and 2015-17, though they included a block number font reminiscent of what the franchise wore on the road from 1991-92. There’s also the Nike Futura logo, which was a standard Nike Swoosh in 2020-21.

The Mavericks are one of five teams set to wear Hardwood Classic uniforms this season, joining the Cleveland Cavaliers (2005-10 alternate), Memphis Grizzlies (2001-03 road), Minnesota Timberwolves (1997-2008 road) and Philadelphia 76ers (2000-07 road).

They’re one of five designs for the franchise this season, joining their white Assoication, royal blue Icon and navy blue Statement Edition uniforms, as well as any unreleased black, blue and silver version of their 2020-21 City Edition design

Those white uniforms were not only a nod to their 2010-11 NBA Championship with gold accents, but also one of the most iconic symbols in Dallas, the Pegasus, with a silver wing-like design down the sides.

The Mavericks will wear the Hardwood Classic uniforms 12 times at home this season, beginning with their Oct. 26 game against the Toronto Raptors, as well as once on the road at the Golden State Warriors on Christmas Day.

They’ll have a corresponding court for the home games that prominently displays their 1980-2001 logo – a royal blue “M” wearing a cowboy hat on top of a Kelly green basketball – at midcourt and a Kelly green out-of-bounds area.

Dallas’ 45th anniversary logo can be seen inside one of the three-point arcs, while the silhouette of all-time franchise great Dirk Nowitzki is on the other end, as he has been immortalized on their courts since 2019-20.

The court is complete with royal blue keys, royal blue  “Dallas” and “Mavericks” wordmarks on opposing baselines and “MFFL” – an acronym for “Mavs Fan For Life” – written along the bottom sideline.

As for the 45th anniversary logo, which was revealed earlier this week, it features the vintage logo, though it is contained within a large “45,” with “the” at the end of the No. 5 and “anniversary” around the number’s curvature.
