Fans watching the Canadian Football League playoffs over the weekend may have noticed a new addition to the teams’ jerseys.
During both the East and West Division semifinals on Saturday, November 1, all four teams involved sported new ad patches on their jerseys. The patches bore the logo of the CFL’s new fuel partner for the 2025 season, Mobil, and were placed on the lower back of the jerseys, under the player numbers.
The Montreal Alouettes faced the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the East semifinal, while the BC Lions hosted the Calgary Stampeders in the West semifinal.

Teams wearing white jerseys had a patch with the full-colour Mobil logo, including a red O and the rest of the letters in blue. On dark jerseys, most of the letters were solid white, while the O was black with white outlines.
Prior to this past weekend, CFL uniforms already had space for two ad patches on the front, one on each shoulder. While teams had local sponsors in these spots during the regular season, Saturday saw all teams wearing WestJet and Telus logos for the playoffs. All teams also wear a Canadian flag on their left shoulder, and some have also added their respective provincial flags on the right shoulder.
The CFL announced its partnership with Mobil in May, prior to the start of the 2025 season. “As part of the partnership, fans will begin seeing the league promoted at Mobil gas stations and those watching in-stadium and at home will catch Mobil on the field, and on CFL sidelines throughout the regular season and the Grey Cup Playoffs,” a press release at the time read, but no mention was made of the jersey advertisements.

The jersey ads will likely show up again on Saturday, November 8, for the respective division finals. The Alouettes travel to Hamilton to take on the Tiger-Cats, while the Lions head to Regina to face the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
The winners of those games will square off in the 112th Grey Cup at Princess Auto Stadium in Winnipeg.
