New Orleans Saints Looking For First Win In White Alternate Helmets

The New Orleans Saints will wear their white alternate helmets with their Color Rush uniforms for the second time this season when they travel to Charlotte to take on the Carolina Panthers on Sunday (1 p.m. ET on FOX).

The white helmets, which were unveiled this summer, feature a predominantly gold version of the Saints’ fleur-de-lis logo on the sides, as well as a black and metallic gold striping pattern down the center and a gold facemask.

The metallic gold stripe also includes a sublimated fleur-de-lis pattern throughout, similar to their black alternate helmets, which prominently feature the iconic symbol often associated with French royalty on the front.

The Saints previously wore their white helmets in a 44-13 loss at the Seattle Seahawks on Sept. 21, while their black helmets were worn alongside their new gold alternate jerseys in the season-opening 20-13 loss to the Arizona Cardinals on Sept. 7.

That leaves just one more opportunity for the black or white alternate helmets or gold jerseys to return this season, as teams are allowed to wear alternate or throwback uniforms as many as four times each season.

Teams are also now permitted to mix-and-match their helmets and jerseys, meaning the Saints could wear their white helmets with gold jerseys, though they’ve suggested they’ll only be worn with the Color Rush set.

The Saints are 0-1 in their white helmets, 0-5 in black helmets, 0-2 in gold jerseys and 8-12 overall in their Color Rush uniforms, including eight straight losses, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to deviate from that plan in the near future.
