PUMA Launches New Home Kits for 5 European National Teams, Including 3 in World Cup

While the official draw for the 2026 FIFA World Cup is on Friday, the countdown to the tournament officially began earlier this week for manufacturer PUMA and the European national teams it outfits that will compete on soccer’s biggest stage.

PUMA launched new home kits for five national teams on Wednesday, December 3 — three of which have already clinched a spot in next summer’s tournament and one that still has a chance to make it in.

Here’s a closer look at all five new home jerseys:

🇵🇹 PORTUGAL 🇵🇹

The highest-profile of PUMA’s national teams, Portugal is heading to the World Cup with home kits that retain their traditional red base, but augments it with embossed wavy lines meant to evoke “the energy of the ocean and the intensity of a national team ready to make its mark on the world’s biggest football stage,” according to the Portuguese Football Federation (translated to English by Google). Green accents appear in the form of stripes through the center of the V-neck collar and sleeve cuffs.

🇨🇭 SWITZERLAND 🇨🇭

Switzerland has also booked their place in the World Cup, and will have home kits “stamped with swagger” for the tournament. The red base is covered with a dense pattern of vertical wavy lines inspired by the country’s “futuristic” passports and “designed with Swiss precision,” according to PUMA. “The red, Helvetic-inspired kit embodies discipline and freedom simultaneously – just what you need to leave a mark on the world’s biggest stage.” White panels appear on each side of the shirt and, as is Swiss tradition, their flag sits on the left chest while the Swiss Football Association’s logo is on the right chest.

🇦🇹 AUSTRIA 🇦🇹

Austria are back in the FIFA World Cup for the first time since 1998, and will head to North America next summer sporting classy home kits with a red base and black sleeves. The collar is solid black while the sleeve cuffs have red and white stripes. The back collar features the motto “Immer wieder Österreich” (“Always Austria”), and the national team crest remains the same despite the Austrian Football Association releasing a new institutional logo earlier this year.

🇨🇿 CZECH REPUBLIC 🇨🇿

The Czech Republic national team isn’t in the World Cup yet, but they have a chance to qualify if they beat Ireland and then the winner of a match between Denmark and North Macedonia in a playoff next March. They’ll have new kits in their closets for the playoff that pays tribute to the country’s 1996 squad, which finished second in the European Championship in their first tournament since the breakup of Czechoslovkia. The red base is complimented by navy blue panels on the sides and under the arms, along with silver accents in the national team crest and PUMA logos. A pattern featuring the country’s iconic two-tailed lion is woven into the fabric used for the sleeve cuffs and the back half of the button-up collar. These details “combine to create a design that celebrates the courage, unity and pride that stood behind the legendary campaign,” according to the Football Association of the Czech Republic.

🇮🇸 ICELAND 🇮🇸

The only one of the five PUMA teams that’s been eliminated from World Cup contention is Iceland, but that hasn’t stopped them from launching a classy new home kit for the upcoming international cycle. The base of the kit is royal blue, which is accented by darker shades of blue in the collar and side panels. It “channels the nation’s volcanic landscapes and icy resilience,” according to PUMA. “It’s a kit forged from contrasts, with a design inspired by glaciers and the fire of a nation ready to erupt on the world stage once again.”

Portugal, Switzerland, Austria and potentially the Czech Republic will find out who their group stage opponents will be when the 2026 FIFA World Cup draw takes place on Friday, December 5, in Washington, D.C.
