The NFL’s regular season comes to a close on Sunday and six teams will wear throwback uniforms or helmets in Week 18, including both the New York Jets and the Buffalo Bills as they play the final game at Highmark Stadium.
That game, which kicks off at 4:25 p.m. ET on CBS, will feature the Bills in their 1987-2001 red throwback helmets, blue home jerseys and white pants and the Jets in their all-white “The Classic” throwback uniforms, which pay homage to the victory in Super Bowl III and their 1998-2018 road design.
The Bills wore the helmets – which feature their “Charging Buffalo” logo, a blue, red and white striping pattern and a white facemask – in four consecutive Super Bowls (XXV-XXVIII) before modernizing the stripe as part of a full-scale uniform redesign in 2002, then scrapped those in 2011 when they moved to white lids.
The Jets’ uniforms, meanwhile, include white helmets with a gray facemask and their 1998-2018 logo on the sides, white jerseys with UCLA stripes and green sleeve caps and white pants, with the shade of green used throughout bridging the gap between their 1968 Kelly green and more recent Hunter green.
New York has worn this design just once since it was introduced in 2024, a 23-20 home loss to the Bills last season. Buffalo wore its standard white helmets with blue jerseys, pants and socks in that Monday Night Football game, so Sunday’s matchup won’t be a visual repeat.
Elsewhere, the Minnesota Vikings will wear their “Purple People Eater” throwback uniforms, which feature their standard purple helmets with classic horns and a gray facemask, gold-trimmed numbers and a traditional striping pattern on the purple jerseys and white pants, when they host the Green Bay Packers (1 p.m. ET on CBS).
This marks the second appearance for the throwback uniforms this season, joining a 22-6 loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Sept. 14. The Vikings wore similar throwback uniforms for at least one game each season from 2007-11 and are just 1-3 in the design since it was revived in 2023.
The Jacksonville Jaguars, meanwhile, will wear their “Prowler” throwbacks for the fourth time this season when they host the Tennessee Titans (1 p.m. ET on FOX), including a 17-10 win over the Houston Texans on Sept. 21, a 31-28 win over the Kansas City Chiefs on Oct. 6 and a 36-19 win over the Indianapolis Colts on Dec. 7.
The uniforms, which were originally worn at home from 1998-2007 and revived ahead of the 2024 season, feature a black helmet with their original logo on the sides, teal jerseys with a full-bodied jaguar logo on the sleeves and white pants with a teal, gold and black striping pattern down the sides.
The Jaguars aren’t the only team looking to end the year undefeated in their throwback threads, as the Denver Broncos will put their 2-0 record in their 1977-inspired “Orange Crush” uniforms this season on the line when they host the Los Angeles Chargers, with kickoff set for 4:25 p.m. ET on CBS.
The uniforms, which were reproduced last season and feature royal blue helmets with their iconic “D” logo, orange jerseys with a traditional striping pattern, white pants with orange and blue stripes and matching socks, were also worn in a 44-24 win over the Dallas Cowboys on Oct. 26 and a 10-7 win over the Las Vegas Raiders on Nov. 6.
Lastly, the Philadelphia Eagles will break out their Kelly green throwback uniforms for their matchup with the Washington Commanders (4:25 p.m. ET on CBS), marking their third appearance this season, joining a 38-20 win over the New York Giants on Oct. 26 and a 24-21 loss at the Dallas Cowboys on Nov. 23.
The uniforms, which were reintroduced in 2023, replicate the Randall Cunningham and Reggie White era with Kelly green helmets that feature gray wings, Kelly green jerseys with the Eagles’ 1987-95 alternate logo on the sleeves, silver pants with a traditional striping pattern and matching socks.
While the Bills cannot change their turf design and Broncos, Jaguars and Vikings will repaint previously used throwback designs on Sunday, the Eagles will change things up by having a gray end zones with a vintage wordmark instead of a Kelly green background they’ve had for their previous throwback games.
Their 1987-95 alternate logo will remain at midfield, but the vintage wordmark will also be joined in the end zones by their classic helmet and the NFC logo, bringing to mind their design for Super Bowl XV, though the NFC logo was also contained within a two-bar Kelly green helmet for that 27-10 loss to the Oakland Raiders.
