The tastemakers of college football uniform fashion are apparently at it again. Anytime we talk about some crazy college football uniform, the discussion eventually turns to “Yeah, and this is all because of Oregon.” Well, the polarizing college team in the Pacific Northwest may have upped the ante once again with glow-in-the-dark uniforms.
Whether you think this looks cool or not is a tad bit irrelevant at this point. The main question is: Will they actually use this on the field?
We haven’t officially heard from Oregon or Nike on the matter, so it could be that this is just being done for promotional purposes. However, the fact that we’re even talking about this as a possibility should let you know where we’re at when it comes to Oregon and their uniforms. I think that people are actually going to be disappointed if these things don’t show glow-in-the-dark ability this Fall.
Personally, I doubt that these are real, and even then, I don’t really see the practicality. Yeah it’ll look cool, but it’ll only look its coolest as the players are in the tunnel. Under the lights, it’ll just look extra-shiny on the field. However, that worked alright with their special 2012 Rose Bowl helmets, so maybe this would be fine if it actually happens.
What do you guys think, though? Is this legit? Would it look good on the field? Are you ever going to get tired of Oregon and their uniform shenanigans?
