Before the 2016 Stanley Cup Playoffs got underway the Pittsburgh Penguins introduced their 50th anniversary logo, the logo celebrated the history of the franchise including the three Stanley Cup championships the club had won.
“So… they’re saying they won’t win this year?” was a common Tweet sent to me at the time. “Guess they just jinxed themselves out of winning the Cup!” was another.
Jinxes aren’t real, people.
As you all know, the Penguins went on to win the Stanley Cup, their fourth, and rendered the anniversary logo for next season obsolete.
Welp they addressed that issue via this animated video posted to their official Twitter account earlier this morning:

Here’s a handy before and after for you…
As for the three-cup logo, it shall remain on our site, but moved to the “Unused” section where it will serve as the answer to some trivia question many years from now.
