The Minnesota Timberwolves aren’t the only team honouring a local legend with a special uniform this year.
This afternoon, the Brooklyn Nets officially unveiled their new “City Edition” uniform paying tribute to The Notorious B.I.G. The uniform matches the leak we saw back in October.
“The uniform’s multi-colour ‘Brooklyn Camo’ pattern represents the cultural diversity in the borough”, the Nets said. “[Brooklyn] is home to people of all races, religions, and ethnicities, who have one important unifying trait – Brooklyn swagger.”
Overall the design is very similar to what the club has always worn since their move from New Jersey, black jersey with “BROOKLYN” arched across the front in white, and the player’s number centred below. That new “Brooklyn Camo”, as the team is calling it, acts as a trim around the arms and at the neck, and on the shorts around the team logo.
After the leak in October, several readers wrote in pointing out the pattern on the jersey matched the COOGI sweaters B.I.G. often wore.
Brooklyn will wear the uniform sixteen times in total, twelve of those at home
