The LSU baseball team will open a five-game home stand on Tuesday, and will do so in style.
The Tigers will wear throwback uniforms reminiscent of those worn by the program in the early-20th century for tomorrow evening’s matchup with Grambling as part of their annual “Turn Back the Clock” night.
The cream-colored Nike Vapor Elite uniforms were designed to commemorate LSU’s final season in old Alex Box Stadium — which opened back in 1938 — and feature a purple block “L” on the chest and a white block “L” on the purple cap.
LSU has worn throwback uniforms multiple times throughout its history, the first time coming in 1993 during the original “Turn Back the Clock” game against Tulane — a 6-3 Tigers win.
Ninth-ranked LSU is 19-9 (6-3 in the SEC) while Grambling sits at 12-15 overall (7-4 in the SWAC). First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT. The Bayou Bengals lead the all-time series, 8-0, with each previous meeting taking place in Baton Rouge.
