The Kansas State men’s basketball program unveiled purple and lavender-trimmed throwback uniforms late Monday evening that feature the classic script “Wildcats” across the front.
The uniforms — which will be worn as part of Kansas State’s “White Out” against Marquette in the inaugural Big East/Big XII Battle this Saturday (9 p.m. ET on ESPN2) — are a nod to what the Wildcats wore in the 1970s. The shorts notably feature a vintage Kansas State logo on the shorts and the acronym “EMAW,” which stands for “Every Man A Wildcat,” on the waistband.
“You’ve got the new jerseys, throwbacks, look incredible,” said head coach Bruce Weber. “I know everyone got excited about the script ‘Cats’ with football. To me, this is even cooler. Hopefully people are excited. It’ll be a great opportunity. And lavender shoes, I hope I get some of those.”
The game between Kansas State and Marquette will be a rematch of their Sweet 16 matchup in 1977, when the Golden Eagles knocked off the Wildcats, 67-66, on their way to winning the national championship under legendary coach Al McGuire.
