Another NBA uniform leak for the 2020-21 season, this time involving a club getting set to play for the championship.
Over the weekend three photos from two sources leaked showing a Los Angeles Lakers royal blue “shirsey” (a t-shirt designed to look like a jersey) featuring a scripted “Los Angeles” in white with light blue trim scripted across the front and LeBron James’ name and number 23 on the back with a drop shadow style number.
We can confirm that this design will be worn by the Lakers (on an actual sleeveless jersey, not a t-shirt) next season, officially designated as their “Classic” uniform.
NBA teams are allowed to wear an old jersey style for a single season to commemorate a milestone anniversary, in this case, it would appear this uniform will be in honour of the 60th anniversary of the Minneapolis Lakers relocation to Los Angeles for the 1960-61 season.
The Lakers wore this style for their first seven seasons after moving to L.A., from 1960-1967, before switching to “Forum blue” and gold in 1967-68.
UPDATE: The Lakers have now had a *second* new uniform leak for the 2020-21 season. You can check that one out here and be sure to check out all our coverage of all the new uniforms across the NBA for next season right here.
