After winning it all last year, the Kansas City Chiefs are determined to become the first team since the 2003-04 and 2004-05 New England Patriots to win the Super Bowl in back-to-back years (XXXVIII and XXXIX).
Thus, the Chiefs have used the motto “Run In Back” as a rally cry all season and announced just hours before kickoff of Super Bowl LV against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers they’ll wear the phrase on the inside collar of their jerseys.
It’s not unusual for teams to have words, numbers or phrases on the inside of the collar, and teams that do include the Atlanta Falcons (“Atlanta”), Carolina Panthers (“Keep Pounding”), Cleveland Browns (“1946”), Los Angeles Chargers (“Bolt Up”), Miami Dolphins (“Miami”), New England Patriots (“We Are All Patriots”) and Seattle Seahawks (“12”).
Others use a logo or symbol in the collar, such as the Indianapolis Colts (secondary logo), Minnesota Vikings (Nordic design) and Tennessee Titans (three stars from the state flag), use a logo or symbols in the collar.
Kickoff for Super Bowl LV between the Chiefs and Buccaneers is set for 6:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
