German Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund turned the clock back to the 1990s with a special jersey they unveiled on Sunday.
The jersey is mainly black, with neon yellow sleeves and white trim around the cuffs and collar. The shade of yellow on the sleeves is inspired by kits worn by the club in the mid-1990s. A video posted to Borussia Dortmund’s Twitter account includes clips from the 1994, 1995 and 1996 seasons.
The front and back of the jersey also feature an embossed tonal collage of Borussia Dortmund players and coaches from the mid-1990s.
This was an era in which Borussia Dortmund enjoyed a good deal of success, winning the Bundesliga title in 1994-95 and 1995-96, and the UEFA Champions League in 1996-97.
The new kits were rumoured for some time, as they were first spotted among the files for the video game FIFA 21.
Borussia Dortmund wore the jersey on Sunday during their Bundesliga match against Werder Bremen, which they won 4-1.
