Spanish La Liga club Getafe CF is in a festive mood this year, celebrating its 75th anniversary in 2021-22 with a commemorative logo and a whole new set of jerseys.
The kits were unveiled on Friday, June 30, and are manufactured by Joma. The home kit is dark blue — fitting for a club nicknamed the Azulones (“Deep Blues”) — with tonal pattern on the front. There is a lighter blue stripe down the front of the shirt, and the same light blue shade is used for trim on the sleeve cuffs and polo collar.
Getafe also released a 75th anniversary logo, which will appear on all three kits. A photo on the club’s Twitter account shows the logo printed inside the collar of the away and third kits.
The away kit pays tribute to Getafe CF players who have played for the Spanish national team over the years. It is mainly red, with the same pattern as the home kit on the front and yellow replacing the lighter shade of blue.
The third kit is mainly white with royal blue trim, and the same pattern from the other kits rendered in pink. According to the caption on an Instagram post by the club (translated to English by Google), this colour was chosen to “make the fight against breast cancer visible.” It also harkens back to the 2011-12 season, when Getafe wore a pink third kit.
This kit also features a monochromatic blue rendering of the club’s crest, which is based on the coat of arms for the municipality of Getafe, where the club is located.
One kit Getafe CF chose not to pay homage to on this illustrious occasion, though, was their infamous 2009-10 home jersey. The club was sponsored by Burger King at the time, and the kits featured the fast food chain’s mascot printed inside the shirt so that players could pull it up over their faces and celebrate like a King when they scored.
