The Washington Spirit are celebrating their 10th season in the National Women’s Soccer League with a pair of new kits.
On Friday, March 18, the D.C.-based club unveiled the Community Kit, which they’ll wear exclusively in this year’s NWSL Challenge Cup tournament, and the 10-Year Anniversary Kit, which they’ll wear during the NWSL regular season.
The 10-Year Anniversary Kit is based on Nike’s Vapor Knit III template. The front and back are solid navy blue, while the sleeves are royal blue with a fingerprint pattern. Royal blue stripes run down the sides of the jersey.
The Community Kit, meanwhile, is based on Nike’s Challenge III template. It’s navy blue all over, with tonal diagonal stripes across the front. The chest also features the logo of DC Scores, a charity that currently helps more than 2,800 kids in the D.C. area “experience sports, arts and service as part of a team.”
Both jerseys features the NWSL’s 10th anniversary patch on the right hem, as well as the logo of league partner Ally on the left sleeve. The right sleeve of the Community Kit also features the logo of Women and Girls in Sport (WAGS), “a charitable organization aimed at promoting confidence, strength, character and leadership in women and girls in the DC area through soccer.”
The Spirit’s goalkeeper kits for 2022 include one in red and one in neon green. Both feature a fingerprint pattern on the front, with solid darker tones on the sleeves.
The club has also added a star above its crest on the jerseys to commemorate its 2021 NWSL championship win.
The 2022 edition of the NWSL Challenge Cup kicked off on March 18; Washington played to a 1-1 draw with NJ/NY Gotham FC on March 25.
The 2022 NWSL regular season will kick off on April 29 and run until October.
