Italian Serie A giants AC Milan have teamed with a leading Italian streetwear label to come up with a pretty unconventional new kit.
The club announced the collaboration with label NemeN on Friday, April 1. The jersey features AC Milan’s traditional red and black stripes as the base, but with the appearance of them being painted over in white at the shoulders and the bottom half of the jersey. The club crest is rendered in monochromatic white.
“This is a landmark for all parties involved in this special capsule, as it marks the Club’s first jersey collaboration with a fashion brand,” said Puma’s global creative director and innovation, Heiko Desens, on AC Milan’s website. “The iconic red and black stripes meet the NEMEN bespoke look and technical innovation, a brand revolutionizing technical streetwear. The collection is a beautiful combination of performance and lifestyle that goes beyond football.”
The kits will be worn by AC Milan’s men’s team against Bologna on Monday, April 4, and by the women’s team against Empoli on Sunday, April 3.
UPDATE (April 4, 2:12 p.m. MT): AC Milan are indeed wearing these jerseys in their match against Bologna, who have opted to wear their yellow third kit with a blue-and-red sash:
The collaboration with NemeN also includes a white anthem jacket and a black performance jacket.
NemeN’s studios are based in Milan, and CEO and founder Leonardo Fasolo is a lifelong AC Milan supporter.
“Being presented with the opportunity to design this special collaborative fourth kit, and a premium capsule alongside, was a dream opportunity,” he said. “We gave the classic AC Milan Rossoneri stripes a discharged NEMEN twist. For the premium kit, we wanted to give something special back to the fans. For the highly technical jacket and pants we have featured our newly developed spy-camo pattern, hand dip-dyed, in the best textiles and craftsmanship Italy has to offer. We hope they enjoy it.”
