Forge FC is hoping to soar above the rest of its Canadian Premier League competition with its new aviation-inspired alternate kit for 2022.
The club unveiled the new jersey during an event at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum in its hometown of Hamilton, Ontario, on Thursday, March 31. The kit is “sheet metal grey” with an embossed pattern on the front mimicking the panels and rivets found on the body of a military aircraft.
In the centre of the jersey is a roundel similar to that used by the Royal Canadian Air Force. But instead of a maple leaf, the symbol inside the roundel is a cinquefoil flower, as is found on the City of Hamilton’s flag.
The jersey, manufactured by league-wide partner Macron, “is a nod to the museum’s love of aviation and its desire to maintain and preserve Canada’s aviation history,” according to Forge FC’s website.
The collar, sleeve cuffs and hem all feature orange trim. The back of the jersey features the club’s “HAMILTON” wordmark, with the flame from the Forge FC crest forming a dot over the I.
Forge FC will be the only club in the CanPL to sport the new Legacy Shield on the left sleeve of its jersey in 2022. The gold league shield with a “2” inside signifies their league championships in 2019 and 2020.
The Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum was founded in 1972 and is dedicated to acquiring, documenting, preserving and maintain aircraft flown by Canadian military services from the beginning of World War II to the present. It currently has more than 40 airplanes in its collection.
Forge FC kicks off its 2022 season by visiting defending CanPL champions Pacific FC on Sunday, April 10.
