The national teams of eight small to medium-sized European countries will look their best when they take the pitch over the next few years thanks to a program put on by the continent’s governing body for football.
UEFA has partnered with manufacturer Erreà to unveil custom kits for the countries under their Kit Assistance Scheme. The kits — both home and away — were unveiled on Monday, May 23, along with custom training and matchday wear for their senior and under-21 national teams.
“Football players across Europe relish the honour of wearing their national team shirt,” UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin said when the partnership was announced in December 2020. “And fans stand together with their team and identify with the players by also donning the shirt. Through our Kit Assistance Scheme, we are not only emphasizing UEFA’s strong commitment towards our member associations, a relationship which is a cornerstone of European football — we are also underlining our firm determination to foster national team football and promote its importance.”
The Kit Assistance Scheme has been around since 2007, and UEFA’s partnership with Erreà for the scheme lasts until 2026. It’s likely that the participating nations will get new kits and training gear in 2024.
“Erreà will bring to this programme over 30 years of partnership experience with clubs and federations at the highest domestic and international levels,” said Fabrizio Taddei, Erreà’s Global Partnership Department head, “all of which will be used to provide each and every country involved with a unique and individual look, both on and off the field of play.”

The colours of both kits are taken from the Andorran flag, and both feature the country’s coat of arms on the left chest.

The home kit is blue with a white collar, sleeve cuffs and hem insert; the away kit is the reverse. Both also feature side panels with tonal pattern that mimics a mosaic in the Villa of Theseus in the Paphos Archaeological Park. A tonal outline of the island appears above laurels on the lower back, and the phrase “Η ομάδα που μας ενώνει” (“The team that unites us”) is embroidered on the back collar. The logo of the Cyprus Football Association appears on the left chest.

The Faroe Islands are a self-governing archipelago within the Kingdom of Denmark. They are located about halfway between Norway and Iceland. The population was estimated at 53,882 in April 2022.
Their new home kit is almost entirely white, save for some streaking red and blue vertical lines on the right side of the front of the shirt. The blue away kit features a tonal cross like the one on the Faroe Islands’ flag, and the stripes from the home kit can be seen peeking out on the white hem insert. The crew neck collar and sleeve cuffs contrast on both kits.
The green third kit mimics the home kit, with streaking red, white and blue vertical lines down the right side. The collar and sleeve cuffs are also green, and a tonal outline of the country sits on the lower left of the front of the shirt. All three kits have the logo of the Faroe Islands Football Association on the left chest.

Liechtenstein is a tiny nation covering just 160 square kilometres and sandwiched between Switzerland and Austria. It had an estimated population of 38,896 in 2020.
All three of Liechtenstein’s new home and away kits are covered in a tonal pattern of diamonds. The collar and sleeve cuffs on the blue home kit are a contrasting white, while on the red away and white third kits, they match the rest of the shirt. A crown, representing the nation’s status as a constitutional monarchy headed by the Prince of Liechtenstein, sits on the left chest of all three kits. A similar crown appears on the country’s flag.

The nation of Luxembourg is situated between Belgium, Germany and France, and had an estimated population of 645,397 in March 2021.

The shirt also features a broad white vertical stripe bordered in light blue down the middle. Inside this stripe is a tonal pattern of lions and horizontal lines inspired by the country’s coat of arms. This tonal pattern also appears in panels over each shoulder.
The away kit is mostly dark blue, with the pattern of lions and horizontal lines running in light blue hoops across the front and in the shoulder panels. The collar and sleeve cuffs are red. The third kit is white, with a light blue collar, red sleeve cuffs, and a pattern of light blue and red lines forming a cross on the front of the shirt.
