Taking the charity jersey to the next level, the Saskatoon Blades of the major junior Western Hockey League will pay tribute to season ticket holders who have been affected by cancer.
What really sets this jersey apart from other pink-cancer jerseys being worn throughout sports this month is that along the blue stripe around the waist of the jersey are the names of friends and family members of Blades season ticket holders who have lost their own battles with cancer over the years.
There are approximately 80 names featured on the jerseys on the front and the back, the names featured will be the same from jersey to jersey.
The jerseys are pink, keeping with the theme of October being breast cancer month, a pink ribbon – the traditional symbol of breast cancer support is featured on the front logo surrounded by the team name in a blue circle.
Saskatoon will wear these jerseys once, this Saturday night against the Everett Silvertips. The Blades have announced that the jerseys will be available for purchase via an auction held during the game, proceeds will be donated to the local C95 Radio Marathon for Breast Cancer research.
The Blades posted the above photo to their Facebook Fan Page earlier today.
