The NBA recently unveiled the uniforms for the 2023 Jordan Rising Stars tournament, which takes place during All-Star weekend in Salt Lake City on Feb. 17.
The colors used in each uniform are inspired by a different era of Utah Jazz basketball, while the overall design follows the same template as their 2016-22 set, with truncated stripes on the jerseys and shorts.
The yellow uniform, which includes purple and green accents, borrows its color scheme from Utah’s look from 1976-96 look, though they only had white, purple or green uniforms (with yellow accents) during that time.
The white uniforms, meanwhile, pull inspiration from the Jazz’s 1996-2004 set with its purple and green accents, while the light blue jersey mimics their 2006-10 alternate uniform, with navy blue and silver accents.
Lastly, the black uniform is supposed to represent Utah’s current uniform set, with yellow and green accents, though the yellow is much brighter and green is completely absent from their recent rebrand.
The uniforms are complete with the memorial patch for the late Bill Russell, as well as the Nike Swoosh – rather than the Jordan Jumpman logo, which is interesting given the sponsor of the tournament – on the jersey and shorts.
The Rising Stars tournament is comprised of 21 NBA players – 11 rookies and 10 sophomores – who are drafted onto three teams, as well as seven NBA G-League players who will make up the fourth team.
Each game will be played to a target score, with the semifinals being played to 40 and the championship being played to 25. Tipoff of the first game is set for 9 p.m. ET on TNT.
