As football clubs from across Europe start their journey toward the continent’s ultimate prize, the UEFA Champions League title, they got a glimpse of the banner under the final will be contested next summer.
The branding for the 2024 UEFA Champions League final — to be held at Wembley Stadium in London, England, on June 1, 2024 — was unveiled on Thursday, August 31, during the group stage draw for this season’s competition at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco.
The 2024 design was created by London-based artist Supermundane in collaboration with UEFA’s marketing partner TEAM Marketing AG and branding agency Frame. It features Supermundance’s “signature geometric drawings and distinctive use of colours, lines and optical effects [that] have become an instantly recognisable feature of the contemporary design landscape, and his playful and vibrant style helped create a unique visual to aptly represent the ultimate sporting event,” according to UEFA.com.
This year’s design was inspired by the vibrancy and culturally mixed nature of London. It reflects the energy and constant movement of the city with shapes hinting at the iconic buildings and the urban vastness whilst contrasting with the green spaces that can be found everywhere in London and that are central to so many people’s lives.
