Although they weren’t set to be released until later this month, the Sacramento Kings’ 2023-24 City Edition uniforms leaked on social media on Monday.
The royal blue jerseys pull inspiration from their time as the Cincinnati Royals, as they wore a similar design on the road from 1968-71. The vertical team name and stripes were on the left side of those jersey, however.
The decision to include them on the right side of the City Edition jerseys certainly involves highlighting the Nike Swoosh, but every other detail ties into the Kings’ 100th anniversary celebration that’s taking place this season.
That includes the crowns above the jock tag, representing the five cities the franchise has called home (Rochester, Cincinnati, Kansas City, Omaha and Sacramento), as well as “100 Years of Royalty” below it, which can also be seen on their commemorative logo.
Sacramento is officially set to unveil the new City Edition uniforms and corresponding court design during its annual Fan Fest at Golden 1 Center on Oct. 21.
