Defending Italian Serie A champions SSC Napoli are once again getting spooky for Halloween, but with a local twist this time.
For the third straight year, Napoli has unveiled a special kit for Halloween, which they’ll wear for a couple of games at the end of October. The kit is black with a grey skull print all over the front and sleeves. The skull pattern is inspired by the Cimitero delle Fontanelle, an underground cemetery under the streets of Naples.
The V-neck collar and sleeve cuffs of the shirt are solid black, while piping between the body and sleeves is light blue. Sponsor logos and the club crest are light grey. The back is solid black to ensure names and numbers are legible.
Napoli previously released Halloween kits featuring bats in 2022 and spiderwebs in 2021.
AS ROMA – Third Kit
Elsewhere in Italy, AS Roma has unveiled their new third kit for 2023-24, made by Adidas. The base of the kit is black, and the chest features Roma’s lupetto crest inside a white circle bordered in red and yellow. The Adidas shoulder stripes are red, orange and yellow, and those colors also appear in a pattern woven into the sleeve cuffs that is “inspired by the ornamental elements of the mosaics of ancient Rome, reimagined for the contemporary era.”
AS Roma also announced this week a new front-of-shirt sponsor in Riyadh Season. The festival “attracts visitors from around the world to Saudi Arabia’s capital during the winter months every year to experience thousands of concerts, exhibitions, dining experiences and other unique entertainment events.”
BOLOGNA FC – Third Kit
Fellow Serie A side Bologna FC also unveiled a new third kit, made by Macron, which features “red and blue intertwining in an attention-grabbing and impactful optical graphic.” The crew neck collar of the jersey is blue, while the sleeve cuffs are blue with red trim.
LILLE OSC – Fourth Kit
Over in France, Ligue 1 side Lille OSC has unveiled a new fourth kit, made by New Balance, that draws inspiration from street art and pop art as well as a local landmark. The royal blue jersey features abstract renderings of the Column of the Goddess statue in Lille’s Grand Place. The renderings are purple, pink and light blue — colors that are combinations of Lille’s usual colors of red, white and blue. A pink band around the right sleeve contains a blue New Balance flash.
RC LENS – Champions League Kit
Meanwhile, fellow French side Racing Club de Lens celebrated their first season in the UEFA Champions League since 2002-03 by debuting a new kit, made by Puma, in their home match against English Premier League side Arsenal on Tuesday, October 3. While their 2023-24 home kit is bright yellow, Lens’ Champions League is more of a muted gold color, with red trim at the front of the crew neck collar. Sponsor and manufacturer logos also appear in red.
