The Detroit Lions will debut their new Honolulu blue alternate helmets during tonight’s Monday Night Football game against the Las Vegas Raiders, which kicks off at 8:15 p.m. on ESPN.
The helmets feature Detroit’s 1961-69 primary logo on both sides, as well as a gray facemask, and will be paired with the Lions’ all-gray Color Rush uniform, which debuted during the 2017 season.
The Lions have mostly worn silver helmets since they moved to Detroit in 1934, though there was a brief stint in the late 1940s and early 1950 where they donned red, black, blue and gold lids.
Detroit previously announced the new blue helmets will be part of a uniform redesign ahead of the 2024 season, though it’s unclear at this time if the decals will remain the same.
The Lions will wear their blue helmets one more time this season against the Minnesota Vikings on Jan. 7. They’re also expected to wear their throwback uniforms against the Green Bay Packers on Thanksgiving Day.
