With the Pro Volleyball Federation recently announcing a deal with CBS Sports to become its first media rights partner, excitement is building for the league’s first serve in early 2024.
PVF will be the first women’s pro volleyball league to begin play in North America. (A competitor, League One Volleyball, is set to begin play in November 2024.) So let’s take a look at the logos the teams will be sporting when the league kicks off …
WHAT IS THE PRO VOLLEYBALL FEDERATION?
The Pro Volleyball Federation (PVF) was announced in November 2022, with the stated goal of giving elite American women’s volleyball players the chance to play professionally in North America while earning a livable wage. Players previously had to relocate to Europe to pursue a professional volleyball career.
The deal with CBS Sports includes both domestic and international broadcast rights. It includes a minimum of 10 matches to be aired in 2024, plus the semifinals and finals of PVF’s championship weekend, scheduled for May 16-19. Matches will primarily air on CBS Sports Network, but there are opportunities for matches to be broadcast on the main CBS network.
There will be seven teams competing in the PVF’s inaugural season, and the league has stated its intent to grow to 10 teams in 2025 by adding teams in Kansas City, Indianapolis and Dallas.

GRAND RAPIDS RISE
- Home Arena: Van Andel Arena (12,000)
- First Game: Thursday, January 25 vs. Columbus
- Head Coach: Cathy George — Full Roster Here
We all have aspirations. For the lucky ones, the path toward renown has already been established and role models have paved the way and set the example. For them, greatness is just a matter of defying the norm and demonstrating the will to win, a dogged desire, and a ruthless aggression in achieving a destiny of grandeur.
But what if there is only an established path for some, but not all? What if for some, there is no horizon, or, what if achievement is just an optical illusion, a cruel mirage that can never be attained? Even worse, what if for some, there is no opportunity to ever make greatness a reality?
Do their dreams become mission impossible?
For the ordinary, yes. The ordinary typically reverse course when the going gets too tough. The ordinary allow their dreams to fade away. The ordinary choose to fight a different fight. But at some point, a hero emerges. At some point, ordinary is overtaken by the extraordinary. At some point, it’s time to make our own opportunities, create a brand-new horizon, and rise together in body and in spirit!
The Grand Rapids Rise are the embodiment of that fierce spirit set to rise to new heights … and it’s not just the sport of women’s volleyball that will be taking the ride. We are blazing a new trail for all of those who have been left behind. New opportunities. New horizons. New expectations. You want to see a will to win and the dogged desire and ruthless aggression it takes to achieve what has never before been accomplished? Just watch us RISE!
