With the claim, “We are the brisket state,” the Triple-A Round Rock Express announced that they would play two games this season as the Round Rock Briskets. The team unveiled a black, yellow, and red logo that evokes the vernacular of the barbecue restaurants the state is known for.
Brisket is a cut of meet from the lower chest of a bull—roughly around the bottom half of the B and R of BRISKETS in the logo above. It is often cooked slowly over indirect heat, a process called smoking, which prompted the team to launch it with the boast, “This year at Dell Diamond we aren’t just smoking the opposing teams pitching.”
The Express, an affiliate of the Texas Rangers, will celebrate Briskets Nights July 19 and 20.
