The Oregon football program unveiled the first combination of its new “Generation O” uniforms on Wednesday afternoon with an all-black option that blends various elements from the Ducks’ previous designs.
The “Fly Era” set – which was designed by Van Horne Brands – features a wing pattern that debuted in the 2013 Alamo Bowl on the shoulders. The wings have a carbon fiber infill, similar to the design Oregon wore from 2009-11.
Below the wings is a diamond plate pattern, which fit into the V-shaped seam of Nike’s Vapor F.U.S.E. template. This detail was pulled from the shoulders and sleeve caps of the Ducks’ 2005-08 uniforms.
At the base of the collar is a rubber, three-dimensional wing pattern, which can be seen on a graphic inside the Oregon football facility that honors the former Ducks in the NFL, as well as the program’s iconic “O” logo in silver.
This detail has been included on Oregon’s uniforms since the 2021 season, though it previously included a pattern that was supposed to mimic flying ducks. That pattern also appeared on the shoulders and within the perforated numbers.
The Ducks carried over their number font, which dates back to the 2018 season, though it appears to be bolder than before. It also swaps the duck-like perforation for a circular pattern that perhaps replicates the outline of the aforementioned “O” logo.
The silver digits feature an apple green stroke, matching the nameplate on the back. There are also silver wings and a silver “O” on the back of the black helmet, a design Oregon debuted in the 2012 Rose Bowl – albeit with slightly different wings.
The uniforms are complete with a silver flex style Big Ten patch on the right shoulder and Nike Swoosh on the left shoulder of the jersey, as well as plain black pants with a silver Nike Swoosh on the left hip.
This marks the first of what sources have indicated will be five new uniforms for the Ducks this season. It’s unclear if – although likely – each iteration will follow the same template as the all-black set revealed on Wednesday.
The new uniforms will certainly be included in EA Sports’ College Football 25 video game, though, so we anticipate the other options will be unveiled before the game is released on July 19.
