The next wave of Jersey Design Contest-winning sweaters made their way to the ice in the Canadian Hockey League over the past couple of weeks, with Ontario Hockey League teams finally getting in on the fun.
Now in its fourth year, the contest was open to kids under 16 and accepted entries until the end of October. The contest is sponsored by Real Canadian Superstore, and game-worn, kid-designed jerseys will be auctioned off to support President’s Choice Children’s Charity.
A total of 31 teams across the Western Hockey League, Ontario Hockey League and Quebec Maritime Junior Hockey League are participating in this year’s contest. The WHL’s Edmonton Oil Kings and Kamloops Blazers were the first to debut their jerseys in early January, while five other teams in the WHL and QMJHL debuted their designs in late January and early February. Five more teams brought their winning designs to life earlier this month.
Here are the latest contest-winning designs to hit the ice:
OSHAWA GENERALS (OHL)
The Generals dialed up the colour on their winning jersey design, which they wore on Saturday, February 15, against the Brampton Steelheads. The base of the jersey is red, and the striping around the waist and sleeves consists of a broad navy blue and two narrow royal blue stripes, separated by even thinner red stripes. The mix of the red and blue hues makes some of the striping almost look purple. The shoulders are navy blue with a royal blue outline and a red pinstripe inside. The Generals’ primary logo on the front has a thick royal blue outline.

SARNIA STING (OHL)
Civic pride was on display for the Sting as they took on the Soo Greyhounds in their contest-winning jerseys, also on Saturday, February 15. The black jersey features a yellow silhouette of the Sarnia skyline, including the Blue Water Bridge, on the front, with the Sting’s primary logo and “SARNIA STING” written out in black overtop. The shoulders are solid yellow, and the waist has grey and black stripes. The sleeves have grey and yellow stripes, with “SARNIA” written out in yellow between the stripes and the numbers.

BARRIE COLTS (OHL)
The Colts’ winning jersey design — which they wore on Saturday, February 15, against the North Bay Battalion — is another nod to the team’s 30th anniversary (they had already released an anniversary jersey and logo back in September). This time, though, the base of the jersey is navy blue, with the Colts’ primary logo on the chest. The shoulder yoke is grey, with the anniversary logo on the right shoulder. A gold stripe around the waist contains the text “1995 – 2025”.

ACADIE-BATHURST TITAN (QMJHL)
The Titan looked up the intimidation factor when they wore their contest-winning design on Sunday, February 16, against the Charlottetown Islanders. The base of the jersey is maroon, but at the waist and cuffs, it transitions to black with a jagged pattern. Two gold stripes run through the black areas. The Titan’s alternate logo appears on the left shoulder.

CAPE BRETON EAGLES (QMJHL)
The Eagles were flying high in their contest-winning sweaters on Thursday, February 20, against the Victoriaville Tigres. The yellow jersey features black shoulders with tapering white stripes and eagle feathers inside. Talon scratch marks appear on each arm and on the right side of the front of the jersey. Around the waist, a black diagonal stripe contains repeating outlines of Cape Breton Island.

KITCHENER RANGERS (OHL)
The Rangers broke the ice with their winning jersey design, which they wore on Friday, February 21, against the Barrie Colts. The Rangers’ logo sits front and centre on the jersey, with blue cracks running our from underneath it. The left shoulder is blue, while the right shoulder is red. Each sleeve has a blue stripe outlined in red running down the length of it. And the waist featured asymmetric blue panels with a red outline.
