Recurring Nightmare: WHL’s Everett Silvertips Bring Back Black Jerseys as Full-Time Alternates

The Everett Silvertips apparently don’t want to wake up from this nightmare.

The Western Hockey League team based in Washington state announced last week that they’re bringing back their black “Nightmare” jerseys as a full-time alternate option for the 2025-26 season. Originally a one-time jersey that was worn for Friday the 13th in December 2024, the Silvertips will wear the black sweaters for every Friday home game in the upcoming season.

The Nightmare sweaters feature a recolored primary logo on the chest, with their usual brown bear turning black with glowing red eyes and green-and-silver outlines. The sleeves and waist of the Nightmare jersey has the same “treeline design” as the Silvertips’ regular home and away jerseys, but “with less-defined edges to symbolize both the undistinguishable mystery of a darkened forest and the sharp fangs of the ‘Nightmare’ beast.” The collar is green and white, with white laces at the front.

A silver walking bear patch sits on each shoulder. The sleeve numbers and names on the back are one-colour white, while numbers on the back are white with silver outlines and claw marks running through the middle.

The jersey was paired with green helmets, pants and gloves in 2024. The socks are black with the same striping and the sleeves.

The Silvertips will wear the Nightmare jerseys for the first time in 2025-26 when they host the Tri-City Americans on Friday, October 3. They’ll wear the black sweaters a total of 10 times over the course of the regular season.
