Barça, PSG, Chelsea Channel Early 2000s For New Nike Third Kits – Plus More European Unveilings

Three of Europe’s highest profile soccer teams are channeling the early 2000s with their new Nike third kits for 2025-26, with more likely to follow in their footsteps.

Over the past week, defending La Liga champs FC Barcelona, Ligue 1 powerhouses Paris Saint-Germain and perennial Premier League contenders Chelsea have unveiled their new third kits, all of which are inspired by Nike’s Total 90 template used for national teams and clubs in the early 2000s.

All three of the 2025-26 kits feature piping on both the front and back that runs across the shoulders, down the sides and meets up at the bottom of the jersey. They all also have flared panels at the collar, a large tapering swoop on the left sleeve and club crests in the middle of the chest. Barcelona’s also has contrasting curved panels on the upper back for player names.

Barcelona’s kit is orange with navy blue accents — a tribute to the 2009-10 squad that won four trophies — while PSG’s is red with royal blue accents and a tonal stripe pattern inside the piping on the front. Chelsea’s kit is black with mostly white accents, save for blue piping, and a retro crest on the chest.

Other high-profile European Nike-outfitted teams rumored to be getting Total 90-inspired third kits this year include Atlético de Madrid (Spain), Inter Milan (Italy) and Tottenham Hotspur (England). Leaks have also surfaced of similar third kits for Pumas UNAM (Mexico) and Corinthians FC (Brazil).

MANCHESTER CITY – Third

Premier League powerhouses Manchester City know their supporters are with them rain or shine, and they play tribute to their loyalty with their 2025-26 third kit, made by PUMA. The grey base of the kit — the same colour as the sky usually is in Manchester — is covered in a pattern of rain drops, but is contrasted by a neon green collar, side panels and shoulder panels “symbolising the stand-out quality of Manchester City.” The PUMA logo and club crest sit in the middle of the chest, and they fade from green to blue and back to green “resembling the iridescent nature of water.”

ASTON VILLA – Third

With its light blue and pink details, Premier League club Aston Villa’s 2025-26 third kit, made by adidas, is directly inspired by the stained glass windows found in their home stadium, Villa Park. The light hues are set off by purple accents, like the shoulder stripes and sponsor logos, including adidas’s retro trefoil logo, which appears on a Villa kit for the first time ever. The collar and sleeve cuffs are white with two thin light blue stripes and a broader purple stripe. The club crest is rendered in purple, light blue and pink.

CRYSTAL PALACE – Third

FA Cup holders Crystal Palace put “a refresh on a classic theme” with their 2025-26 third kits, made by Macron. The shirts have a white base, with red and blue vertical stripes running down the centre of the jersey front. The front stripes contain a tonal pattern based on the eagle in the club crest. Broad stripes run down each sleeve, matching the color of the front stripe on either side.

WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS – Third

Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers are ready to “unleash the lobos” with their Brazil-themed third kit for 2025-26, made by SUDU. The tonal pattern on the bright blue kit — the Brazilian national team’s traditional away kit colour — features a tonal pattern “that pays homage to significant Brazilian landmarks and cultural moments,” the club says on its website. “Vibrant and bold, this kit authentically speaks to the heart of our Brazilian players.” The collar and sleeve cuffs are yellow with two green pinstripes through the centre.

SUNDERLAND AFC – Third

Newly promoted Premier League side Sunderland AFC lives up to its “Black Cats” nickname with their 2025-26 third kit, made by Hummel. The black base of the kit features a tonal mandala made up of 11 black cats, representing the 11 players on the pitch. Sponsor and manufacturer logos are gunmetal grey, and a prowling black cat logo sits on the left chest. The only splash of colour on the jersey is a pair of yellow cat eyes on the back collar.

FULHAM FC – Third

Premier League side Fulham FC are keeping things simple and classy with their 2025-26 third kit, made by adidas. The black base of the shirt is accented with gold in the shoulder stripes, piping down the front and on the sleeve cuffs, and sponsor logos. Even the club crest is rendered in black and gold.

🇩🇪 1. FC KÖLN – Third

Another black and gold third kit comes from Germany, as Bundesliga side 1. FC Köln celebrates its 77th birthday and the 777th anniversary of work beginning on the Kölner Dom, a Catholic cathedral in the centre of Cologne. The embossed pattern on the black base of the kit is inspired by the cathedral’s architectural features, including columns, Gothic windows, gargoyles and the “Decke Pitter” — which is “the affectionate name given by the people of Köln to the Dom’s largest and most famous bell, the Petersglocke.” Gold accents include striping in the collar and sleeve cuffs, Hummel chevrons in the side panels, and a black-and-gold embroidered version of the club crest on the left chest.

🇩🇪 BORUSSIA MÖNCHENGLADBACH – Third

While their home and away kits celebrate their past, Bundesliga side Borussia Mönchengladbach look to the future with their 2025-26 third kit, made by PUMA. The black kit features a pattern of grey diamonds that subtly forms a map of the city of Mönchengladbach. Sponsor logos and names and numbers on the back of the kit are one-colour white.

🇫🇷 OGC NICE – Away

Dubbed “Nice la Belle,” Ligue 1 side OGC Nice’s new away kit for 2025-26, made by Kappa, is a love letter to their home city. The off-white base of the kit features green and terracotta accents in the polo collar, piping and sleeve cuffs, representing the green shutters and wrought iron and the terracotta building façades found throughout Nice. The club crest and Kappa logos are rendered in terracotta, while the front-of-shirt sponsor logo is black.

🇫🇷 AS MONACO – Third

Ligue 1 side AS Monaco pays tribute to the principality’s “unique luminosity” with their yellow third kit for 2025-26, made by Mizuno. The kit features an embossed sunburst pattern radiating out from under the club crest on the left chest, which is rendered in yellow and black. Other sponsor logos are rendered in one-colour black, as is the club motto — “Daghe Munegu” — on the back collar.
