As they gear up for another Western Hockey League season, a pair of British Columbia-based teams in the league have unveiled logos commemorating milestone anniversaries.
Both the Vancouver Giants and the Kelowna Rockets revealed their anniversary logos last week. The Giants are celebrating a quarter-century in the WHL, while the Rockets are marking three decades.
The Giants’ 25th anniversary logo features the hockey stick-carrying, toque-wearing lumberjack from their primary logo superimposed on top of a red number 25. It extends into a black semi-circle underneath, which also has “2001 – 2026” written out in white.

The Giants say on their website that the anniversary logo “will be proudly displayed on our jerseys for the upcoming season,” though they don’t say exactly what that will look like.
The Rockets, meanwhile, released their 30th anniversary logo and are already putting it to good use, placing it at centre ice at Prospera Place and incorporating it into their 2025 training camp logo. The logo features a pair of rockets crossing under the number 30 in a block font, and it’s inspired by the shoulder patch from the team’s original jerseys.

The Rockets also say on their website that they’ll “prominently feature” a retro logo throughout their 30th anniversary location, though they don’t elaborate on exactly what that means. This past April, it was reported that the Rockets had filed a trademark application with the Canadian Intellectual Property Office for a tweaked version of the logo that was used when they relocated from Tacoma in 1995.

The Rockets open their 2025-26 WHL regular season on Friday, September 19, when they host the Spokane Chiefs. The Giants, meanwhile, open their season the next night when they host the expansion Penticton Vees.
