The Memphis Grizzlies will celebrate their 25th season in Memphis this year by wearing Hardwood Classic uniforms that replicate what they wore on the road from 2001-03 following their relocation from Vancouver.
The black uniforms prominently display a large “Memphis” wordmark across the chest, classic trim with the Grizzlies’ ball-in-claw logo at the base of the collar and a turquoise and red stripping pattern down both sides.
There’s an asymmetrical turquoise and red striping pattern down the left side and bottom of the shorts, as well as their secondary “G-Swipe” logo on the right leg. There’s also their paw print mark on the turquoise and red waistband.
The Grizzlies previously wore this uniforms as a Hardwood Classic design in 2020-21, honoring their 20th season in Memphis. The only difference this time is the Nike Futura logo and Robinhood advertisement, as they were sponsored by FedEx five years ago.
This was the same design the Grizzlies wore during their final season in Vancouver in 2000-01, though their home white jerseys displayed a “Grizzlies” wordmark and their road black jerseys had “Vancouver.” Both sets said “Memphis” in 2001-03, meanwhile.
They were one of just five teams to display their city or state on their home, road and/or alternate uniforms at that time, joining the Charlotte Hornets, Dallas Mavericks, Indiana Pacers, New York Knicks, while most teams had their nickname on at least one.
Memphis then made a slight update to its look for the 2002-04 seasons, swapping the “G-Swipe” logo on the right leg for a full-bodied grizzly bear, before adopting its current navy blue, light blue and gold color scheme ahead of the 2004-05 campaign.

The Grizzlies will wear the uniforms 11 times this season, including the season opener against the New Orleans Pelicans on Oct. 22. They’ll be paired with a matching court that debuted last season alongside different Hardwood Classic uniforms that replicated Vancouver’s original home design.
The only difference will be the addition of a “25 Memphis” logo inside the three-point line, whereas last year’s court design had a logo that commemorated the Grizzlies’ 30th season as a franchise in that spot.
