The Buffalo Bills will wear their new Nike “Rivalries” uniforms for the first time when they host the New England Patriots on Sunday Night Football, which kicks off at 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC.
The all-white “Cold Front” uniforms, which are part of a new series that kicked off this season with members of the AFC East and NFC West, are an obvious nod to the blizzards that impact Buffalo yearly, with silver numbers and a silver version of their “Charging Buffalo” logo on their helmets and sleeves.
There’s a cracked ice design in the logos and stripes on the helmet and pants, as well as a pattern on the shoulders that replicates snow on a bison’s fur. The logos on the sleeves, specifically, include a raised texture pattern, which looks similar to the fractal diamond Nike Swoosh used in the College Football Playoff.
The Bills’ uniforms are completely devoid of red but feature a royal blue “Buffalo” wordmark on the chest and royal blue outlines on the logos and numbers, which maintain their current number font.
Unlike the Arizona Cardinals and Miami Dolphins, who have already worn their “Rivalries” uniforms this season, the Bills will not paint a special design on the field at Highmark Stadium, which has turf instead of a natural grass surface.
The “Rivalries” uniforms – which bring to mind MLB’s City Connect and the NBA’s City Edition programs – will be worn just once this season during a home game against a divisional opponent but will remain in the team’s rotation for three seasons, which would conceivably allow them to be worn against a different divisional opponent each year.
The “Rivalries” series will then expand to the AFC South and NFC North in 2026, the AFC West and NFC East in 2027 and the AFC North and NFC South in 2028, marking the first league-wide uniform promotion since the Color Rush program debuted in 2015 and ran through the 2017 season.
Other matchups this season include the New York Jets at Patriots on Nov. 13, Seattle Seahawks at Los Angeles Rams on Nov. 16, Dolphins at Jets on Dec. 7, Rams at Seahawks on Dec. 18 and Seahawks at San Francisco 49ers on a to-be-determined Week 18 date.
That said, this marks one of three alternate or throwback uniforms for the Bills this season, as they’re also scheduled to wear their “Standing Buffalo” throwback uniforms on Oct. 13 at the Atlanta Falcons and Nov. 16 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Bills also reintroduced their 1987-2001 red throwback helmets, which they’ll pair with their blue home jerseys and white pants in their Week 18 matchup with the New York Jets to commemorate their final regular season game at Highmark Stadium.
