The Montana Grizzlies will celebrate the 30th anniversary of their first national title by wearing 1995 throwback uniforms during Saturday’s Homecoming matchup with Cal Poly, which kicks off at 4 p.m. ET on Scripps Sports.
The uniforms closely resemble but are not an exact replica of what the Grizzlies wore that season, with copper-colored jerseys that prominently display a gold “Montana” wordmark above matching numbers, gold helmets and white pants.
The jerseys more accurately depict the design that Montana wore prior to that, with modified Northwestern stripes on the sleeves rather than an interlocking “UM,” though the stripes in the early 1990s were all gold instead of white and gold.

The gold helmet also features a vintage “Snarling Griz” logo that was used from 1966-82 on the sides rather than the Script “Griz” that has adorned their standard helmets since 1988 and through a rebrand to their current maroon and silver color scheme in 1996.ย
Montana previously wore similar throwback uniforms, which are complete with white pants that feature a solid copper-colored stripe, in wins over Montana State in 2008, Northern Arizona in 2015 and Sacramento State in 2018, though the last two included white and silver helmets, respectively.
