On Friday, just a few days after the season tipped off, the NBA revealed all 30 team-specific court designs for the third annual Emirates NBA Cup, which tips off on Halloween and culminates with the finals in Las Vegas on Dec. 16.
The courts, which were designed by artist Victor Solomon, feature a fully painted hardwood with one of the team’s primary colors on the playing surface and the color of their Statement Edition uniforms – which will be worn by the home team during the tournament – on the apron.
The NBA Cup trophy remains the focal point of the design, as it sits at midcourt behind a wordmark that notes the team’s city, state, regional moniker or abbreviation, as well as in the lanes, while the team nickname or full name is featured along the baselines.
Each court features a sublimated logo, phrase or graphic overlay, as well as a five-by-five grid that represents the five players on the floor and the five teams in each pool play group. The grid also has an angled gradient pattern that shifts toward opposite corners of the court.
The direction of this subtle detail is determined by each team’s conference alignment, with members of the Eastern Conference having the darkest corners in the top left and bottom right and members of the Western Conference being darker in the bottom left and top right.
Smaller details include another team-specific graphic, phrase or pattern along the bottom sideline, as well as the trophy at center court of the Los Angeles Lakers (2023) and Milwaukee Bucks (2024) being engraved with the year they worn the NBA Cup.
As mentioned, Group Play for the NBA Cup – which was previously known as the In-Season Tournament – begins on Oct. 31. Eight teams will then advance to the Knockout Rounds, followed by the Finals at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Dec. 16.
