The Canadian Hockey League is going old school as it gears up for a showcase of its top young talent.
The CHL USA Prospects Challenge gets underway tonight (Tuesday, November 25) at the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary. But the day before, the league unveiled the jerseys that some of its top prospects for the upcoming 2026 NHL Entry Draft will wear when they take on the top prospects from the USA Hockey National Team Development Program.
With the CHL celebrating its 50th anniversary this season, they fittingly chose gold trim for the Prospects Challenge jerseys, made by Under Armour. Both the red and white versions of the jersey feature a retro CHL logo on the front, which was used from 1986 to 1996.

Both versions of the jersey have gold outlines around the shoulder yokes and red collars with a gold panel at the front with the UA logo inside. The red jersey has a white and gold stripes around each sleeve, while the white version has red and gold stripes. Neither jersey has stripes around the waist or hem.
Names and numbers on the sleeves and back are set in a one-colour block font that contrasts with the base. The right shoulder has mostly red version of the CHL’s 50th anniversary logo, while the left shoulder has each player’s respective league logo (Western Hockey League, Ontario Hockey League or Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League).

Both jerseys were shown on the CHL’s social media channels paired with red helmets and gloves.
The CHL USA Prospects Challenge is a two-game series, with teams gaining two points for a win and zero points for a loss, be it in regulation, overtime or a shootout. If the teams are tied on points after the second game, they’ll play three-on-three 20-minute periods until a winning goal is scored.

The second game of the series will take place at the VisitLethbridge.com Arena in Lethbridge, Alberta, on Wednesday, November 26.
The first CHL USA Prospects Challenge was held in 2024 in London and Oshawa, Ontario. The CHL team won both games. Before then, the league had held an annual CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game since 1992.
