The Beloit Sky Carp, High-A affiliate of the Miami Marlins in the Midwest League, unveiled a new take on their popular Supper Clubbers alternate identity, replacing their brandy old fashion with another cocktail that’s popular in Wisconsin—the grasshopper. The grasshopper, which gets its name from its green color, is a cocktail made with crème de menthe and vanilla ice cream.

The nickname Supper Clubbers was one of five finalists in the Sky Carp’s 2021 name-the-team contest, along with Cheese Balls, Polka Pike, Moo, and of course Sky Carp. Supper clubs are a staple of Wisconsin culture, Friday night dining establishments that traditionally serve prime rib, fried fish, and relish trays, as well as mixed drinks.

The suite of logos centers around an anthropomorphic grasshopper (the drink not the bug), including a swirl of vanilla ice cream and a pearl necklace, which per the team pays homage “to the elegant attire of vintage supper club patrons.” Additional marks include the state of Wisconsin with a mint leaf where the previous Supper Clubbers identity had cherries, and the neon script Supper Clubbers in a minty green.
The Supper Clubbers will take to the field when Midwest League games begin in April.
