Dallas Stars Remember ’99 Cup Champs with New Alternate Uniform

The Dallas Stars are reaching back to the most celebrated moment in their franchise’s nearly 60-year history with the unveiling of a new third uniform inspired by the design worn during their 1999 Stanley Cup Championship run.

The jersey is a modern, recoloured version of that Star-shaped alternate (later full-time) uniform introduced in the late 1990s, updated with a black base with white and silver striping and large green panels extending from the star points to the edges of the sweater. The look mirrors the original silhouette but swaps the metallic gold and forest green for the club’s current colour scheme. The familiar state of Texas shoulder patches return in an updated form, stitched in white with a green-trimmed star at the centre.

On the chest is a silver interpretation of the original wordmark + star DALLAS STARS logo, with some additional embroidery giving the star a nifty three-dimensional effect. Inside the collar, the text “3OT 1999” marks the triple-overtime victory that secured the franchise’s first Stanley Cup.

“Interwoven with history, the ’99 jersey is a work of art that takes us back to a historic moment in Dallas Stars history: the 1999 Stanley Cup Playoffs,” reads the release from the team. “Every stitch thread with care and each element created with intention, the ’99 jersey brings new life to this season, as we remember the greatness that was and all that is still to be achieved.”

Dallas wore a similar jersey, but in white, as part of the original Reverse Retro program during the 2020-21 NHL season. The design also featured a recoloured green and silver Stars logo on the front of the star-striped jersey design.

The jersey will debut this Friday, November 28, against the Utah Mammoth, the first of twelve in which it will be worn in 2025-26. The rest of the games are November 30 vs Ottawa, December 7 vs Pittsburgh, December 13 vs Florida, December 21 vs Toronto, January 4 vs Montreal, January 18 vs Tampa Bay, February 2 vs Winnipeg, February 28 vs Nashville, March 8 vs Chicago, March 12 vs Edmonton, and March 22 vs Vegas. The Stars were swell enough to spare Sabres fans the sight of this one.

Fans can order their new Dallas Stars third jerseys online starting Friday, November 28, at 5 p.m. Dallas time. The team notes that all orders, whether for pickup or shipping, will not be processed until Wednesday, December 3.
