Nothing rhymes with orange, but that’s not stopping the Kamloops Blazers and their new alternate jersey.
The Western Hockey League debuted their new third jersey on Saturday, November 29, when they hosted the Pentiction Vees at the Sandman Centre. Putting a new twist on an old look, the jersey is a good example of what the Blazers might have worn had they participated in the NHL’s popular Reverse Retro program.
The base of the jersey is orange, normally a secondary colour in the Blazers’ palette. A broad white stripe with navy blue taping runs across the shoulders and down each sleeve, widening below the elbow before a navy blue panel overtakes the forearm. It’s a template the Blazers wore from 1987 to 2004, but is probably best known from its use by the NHL’s Philadelphia Flyers around the same time period.

The front of the jersey features “BLAZERS” written out diagonally in navy blue letters with white outlines. Each letter has three white stripes through its centre, and the B, A and R have small flames in their middles, much like the B in the team’s primary logo.

The Blazers’ jersey has white and navy blue stripes of equal width around the waist and around the shin of each sock. The team’s primary logo sits on the right shoulder, while their alternate logo — introduced in 2015 — appears on the left shoulder.

Numbers on the sleeves are solid navy blue, while those on the back are navy blue with white outlines. Names on the back are navy blue and set on a contrasting white nameplate. The collar is navy blue with a white Under Armour logo at the front and white laces.

The new sweaters worked out for the Blazers, as they defeated the Vees 7-5. The team hasn’t indicated when they’ll be worn again.
