Olympique de Marseille Pens Love Letter to City With One-Off Fourth Kit

French soccer club Olympique de Marseille has penned a love letter to their home city with a special one-off fourth kit.

OM unveiled the kit on their website and social media channels on Friday, November 28, and then wore it for the first and only time the next day when they hosted Toulouse at the Orange Vélodrome in Ligue 1 action. The game ended in a 2-2 draw.

The kit features a gold base, inspired by Notre Dame de la Garde overseeing Marseille, with blue panels up the sides and under the arms. On the base is a tonal pattern of drawings depicting different historic buildings and landmarks around the city, including Vieux-Port, Corniche Kennedy, the aforementioned basilica, and Chateau d’If.

The front half of the crew neck collar is blue, and the sleeve cuffs are blue with a white stripe through the middle. The OM crest, PUMA logo and sponsor logo on the chest are all rendered in blue.

For the match against Toulouse, the new fourth jersey was paired with blue shorts with gold stripes down the sides. OM also wore gold socks with a single blue stripe at the cuff.

While outfield players wore the gold version of the kit, the goalkeepers had their version with a turquoise base. The blue accents carried over from the outfield version.

OM’s next match is a visit to Lille OSC on Friday, December 12.
